Newsom Unleashes ‘Trump Corruption Coin’ to Mock Trump’s Crypto Empire
California Governor Gavin Newsom is taking a political fight to the blockchain. In a heated interview on the Pivot podcast, Newsom mentioned a brand-new memecoin: the Trump Corruption Coin.
The token, specifically linked to Trump’s purported scandals, will fund Newsom’s wider Campaign for Democracy to support redistricting and voter outreach efforts.
Newsom said that a meme coin is about to be launched: “Donald Trump, we will see how your coin performs against ours.”
When someone asked if it would be called ‘Gavin Coin’, he replied: “No, it’s Trump Corruption Coin.”
Trump’s Crypto Fortunes Fuel the Rivalry
Donald Trump is using cryptocurrency to boost his brand — and that’s why he does it. Trump makes millions on digital assets, NFTs, and governance tokens tied to World Liberty Financial (WLFI).
- In June 2025, Trump revealed an income of $57.4 million from WLFI tokens.
- His records show 15.75 billion WLFI tokens under his control.
- According to Trump Media & Technology Group, it possesses over $2 billion in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
According to a New Yorker report, Trump’s crypto investments are estimated at $2.4 billion since 2022, representing 44% of his wealth post-presidency. Critics warn this creates huge conflicts of interest for Trump’s potential new term.

Meme Wars: Newsom Mocks Trump’s Style
Newsom is turning Trump’s own branding against him through this crypto stunt.
His official X (formerly Twitter) account has recently mimicked Trump’s signature all-caps tweets, posting satirical lines such as:
“According to Donald Trump, everything written and broadcast in the Fake News — I have the highest poll numbers ever. MAKE AMERICA GAVIN AGAIN!!! — GCN”
He even opened an online store selling MAGA-style hats rebranded with phrases like:
“Newsom was right about everything.”
Crypto Turns Into a Political Battlefield
Trump and Newsom are now using crypto as a weapon in their rivalry. This signals how digital assets can be leveraged for political advantage.
It remains unclear whether Newsom’s “Trump Corruption Coin” will become a serious fundraising tool, or just a viral stunt. Regardless, cryptocurrencies are making their mark on America’s political scene.
