The independent ticket has faced several obstacles, including difficulties in ballot access and claims of sabotage by the Democratic National Convention. Shanahan said the campaign could be a “spoiler” if it gets in, drawing more votes from Trump than Democrats.
Shanahan also criticized the Democratic Party for allegedly undermining their campaign by manipulating polls and other tactics. She indicated that concerns over the impact of their campaign on the overall election dynamics drive the challenging decision to either join Trump or continue independently.
